      Disposition:
INHUMAN. As an alleged contractor—a supernatural being with great power, lack of emotion, and a proclivity for logical reasoning—Hei is known to be a creature of apathy. Contractors are notorious in the series for being unfeeling liars and betrayers, designed by otherwordly phenomena to obey only their strictest rational thoughts and an instinctual goal of self-preservation. Outwardly, he shows a lack of empathy and compassion, devoid of most human decencies that keep him at an arm's distance from a world that's left him high and dry. Episode two shows us his understanding of these traits and an acceptance of what he's become in a helpful narrative exchanged between himself and Chiaki, a woman he's stringing along to gather information. He describes contractors as inhumane killing machines, wolves in sheep's clothing. Hei is certainly no exception to his own words; he lies, he betrays, and he kills, at the beck and call of any employer who'll pay him in cash or information.

OFFBEAT. Initially, he appears to have little to no qualms about doing dreadful things to get what he wants. What we're presented with is a murderer, a deceitful and selfish creature. Inside, at his core, what he truly is is a deeply troubled human being. Hei has only adopted the abilities of a contractor, not the inherent personality traits. This is due to the sacrificial fusion of his and his sister's souls. He has a fair amount of feeling in him, capable of experiencing the great and debilitating emotions all humans can, which finally gives us a three-dimensional view of his character. An oddball to those he meets, both humans and contractors often have no idea what to make of him. He's an insatiable glutton, capable of eating several courses of food in one sitting, he has an affinity for cooking chef-grade food, and he is a hobbyist stargazer. Being so fond of these things, he has an appreciation for the mundane as his life has been invariably upsetting. Normalcy and the little pleasures in life, while hard to let go of his neuroses enough to enjoy, are like small miracles. The forms of entertainment he engages in are approached restrainedly, taking great care not to overindulge. When he does, he becomes easily fixated and often develops addictions.

SPECIALIZED. This is, in part, because he's fundamentally not too bright. Hei's always been a rather plain, unostentatious man. He may show many degrees of intelligence, most often street smarts as he doesn't have any formal education, but he's constantly being bailed out of scenarios he couldn't otherwise handle on his own. Perceptiveness varies with him, but it makes up for the book smarts he lacks; in combat, he's a powerful opponent due to his constant vigilance and unique, improvised ways of strategizing. While very quick on the uptake, a disciplined learner who knows several different languages and adept acting skills, Hei has been known to let the human side of him bite off more than it can chew. He has a bad streak of gullibility, falling into the manipulative traps of both women and men, stumbling into unwise partnerships when he should know better.

UNSTABLE. The tragedies he's experienced have left him a very split individual, riddled with depression and post-traumatic stress that contribute to night terrors and vivid hallucinations. He has a cripplingly low idea of his own self-worth and it makes him protective to the point of possessiveness over the people who can tolerate this disjointed behaviour. He dwells heavily on things when his strict emotional control is chipped away, and his personality has been known to shift sharply. Hei has a wicked temper, often becoming irate, prone to issuing real threats in manic states contractors are incapable of. Additionally, he's a panicked individual who tends to lash out physically and verbally at others. This is seen many times in the form of hypocritical accusations, showing humans and contractors a great deal of disgust for their cruel actions. As irrational as a cold mercenary with a bleeding heart is, he will go out of his way and risk his own life for the lives of innocent people who've had an impact on him. The injury and death of those he's perceived as close to him push him into vengeful mindsets. He's hesitant to form bonds for these understandable reasons, trying his level best to keep others at arm's length. He's not an unreasonable monster, working hard for and showing deference to the ones he wishes to protect, but his life is chaos; he wouldn't willingly invite others to share in any of it with him.
      Suitability:
Hei is a mercenary. He, therefore, has experienced many displacements and strange phenomena, as his world has supernatural/paranormal qualities. It won't perturb him to know that there are aliens somewhere in this universe, but it will be frightening to him to be placed in this world with no direct route home. He doesn't have a strong connection to Earth, however, as he's just lost everything and everyone important to him; it will take him no time to adapt and assimilate.

Synchrony will be difficult for him to accept and utilize, by nature of being predominantly touch-oriented (he will benefit greatly from manna-generating conversations, despite the consequences that come with being stingy). In time, his caginess will lessen. Due to his loneliness, desperation, and instability, he latched on to anyone who can tolerate his antics, so eventually, he'll have those people to rely on. Given a mission, he'll do it well, and getting paid by the government for manna generation will be a very attractive, potentially lucrative job. Furthermore, Hei is unfortunately accustomed to having new powers forced on him. His Ruby abilities, when discovered and controlled with training, will be utilized as efficiently and effectively as he uses his molecular manipulation. Another weapon in his arsenal, he won't mind terribly much and it will further incentivize him to keep the manna flowing.

As I leave the body transformations to other roleplayers, preferring to react to their unique changes, Hei won't be experiencing any. I may change my mind on that, but for now, his response to witnessing monster transformations in the individuals around him will be negative. In his eyes, they'll be beasts to be wary of, which might be an interesting departure from Captain Kirk's wholehearted acceptance of them. It'll become tolerated, but never accepted; he doesn't trust others to be able to control themselves.

As for the native Gems, their government, and the world itself, Hei will find them fascinating. Whereas some would wish to investigate to destroy the mystique, he will keep his distance from the alien Gems most of the time. While he'll treat them just as well (or as poorly) as he treats anyone else, he will be a bit starstruck for the first little while, finding them difficult to speak with and operate around. This is, in part, due to the fact that paranormal aspects of his canon have not been explained but are thought to be caused by extraterrestrials or something that developed in space and fell to Earth to infect it. Knowing, after his arrival, that the existence of other civilizations in the universe is proven theory will be something of a strange relief to Hei. All in all, it'll all boil down into a neutral relationship; if they mind their own business, he'll mind his.
Condition upon arrival: A little battle-weary, bruised and sporting new scars, but ultimately fine.

      Abilities:
Hei received this ability from his sister when she forcibly fused her body into his. It's a science-based power that is generated within his body after activation and discharges electrical currents that range in power from weak shocks to outputs tremendous enough to alter matter on a quantum level. His electricity has to be conducted through three core resources: water, metal, and physical contact. The very nature of it is short-range; he's often locked into close combat scenarios, which makes him susceptible to long-ranged attacks like sniper fire.

As his molecular manipulation is actually tied to his ability to generate electricity, Hei can do anything that electricity is capable of doing when introduced to a system. This means that it can be used to disable technologies such as computer-programmed locks, light sources that use electricity, machines, and can tamper with the brain itself when shocks are applied directly to the skull. Employing the use of his electricity against the brain can interfere with memory, from short-term to long-term (basically one step away from reducing someone to a brain-dead state with too much output). Under extreme duress, as his ability makes him similar to a lightning rod, Hei can even channel lightning from active storm systems, redirect bolts, and add to their voltage.

Hei alters chemical make-up—the fundamental structure of everything we know—using this electricity. His body emits special blue radiation called "special particle luminance" that is unique to his power, actively affecting people and objects around him/he comes into contact with. With a massive enough quantity of this radiation, he can even transform humans into contractors.

A notable use for this ability is the changing of volatile substances into stable compounds. Examples include the alteration of metal and gunpowder so a gun's bullets cannot fire from its barrel, counteracting poisons in his or another's system, and negating explosives. On the more extreme side of things, Hei has the ability to separate souls from their bodies; naturally, this means that Hei can do what his sister did to him and seal himself away inside of any other poor sap. This is, however, very permanent and not likely to ever occur. With the rare addition of a special item called a "meteor shard"—a supernatural enhancer that looks like a glass telescope lens—Hei is powerful enough to destroy half of a continent and render areas of land void and inviolate (incapable of being accessed by normal means).
